Unbeknownst to many Americans, this nation relies heavily on the commercial trucking industry for our economy to function. With very few exceptions, nearly every product we have was transferred on a truck at some point. Many products that are made from multiple ingredients were hauled on a truck more than once before becoming an end product. Trucks are the visible proof of the U.S. economy at work.
The trucking industry is rapidly growing as well. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ web site, the trucking industry is strong and expanding, expecting a 22% growth in jobs between 2000 and 2010. The government estimates that freight volume will increase by 50 percent in the next 20 years.
